Synopsis Stream Movies 6 Souls (II) :

Despite the Moore-Meyers appeal, we understand this is a standard genre exercise that over-relies on creepy visuals (i.e. the way Meyers snaps his neck around in the trailer) and jarring sound design in order to provoke its audience. And if you thought this release came and went already, you aren't alone; in the U.S. the movie has sat on the shelf while it's been available everywhere else. In the interim, directing duo Måns Mårlind and Björn Stein's Underworld entry raised their profile slightly.

After the death of her husband, Dr. Cara Harding's (Julianne Moore) faith in God has been shaken, but not her belief in science. In an attempt to open her up to accepting unexplainable psychiatric theories, her father introduces her to Adam, a patient with multiple personalities who takes on some of the physical characteristics of his other personalities. Cara quickly discovers that Adam's other personalities are murder victims and the more she finds out about him and his past, the closer she and her loved ones are to becoming murder victims themselves.

For some of us, Silent Hill was a dark-arts homework assignment as murky/foggy as the original video game, but its overall mood and memorable sequences made it a worldwide hit. (Pyramid Head was an underutilized terror, the climatic barbed wire bloodfest scene was worth the wait, and Laurie Holden looked great as a lady cop in leather.) Six years later, an upstart distributor takes over the reins for the sorta sequel's release, and the storyline seems to be even more dense than the original, with Adelaide Clemens front and center, Sean Bean as her doting father, Kit Harrington Bean's "Game of Thones" offspring in a good-boy role, and Radha Mitchell shoehorned into a cameo role that might not even been connected to the first film? We're confused.

In Silent Hill: Revelation 3D, Heather Mason (Clemens) and her father (Bean) have been on the run, always one step ahead of dangerous forces that she doesn't fully understand. On the eve of her 18th birthday, plagued by horrific nightmares and the disappearance of her father, Heather discovers she's not who she thinks she is. Cloud Atlas explores how the actions and consequences of individual lives impact one another throughout the past, the present and the future. Action, mystery and romance weave dramatically through the story as one soul is shaped from a killer into a hero and a single act of kindness ripples across centuries to inspire a revolution in the distant future. Each member of the ensemble appears in multiple roles as the stories move through time.

What is the bigger challenge here: getting Madea fans to support Tyler Perry as he toughens up and chases a serial killer, or getting non-Perry fans to accept his inheritance of the Alex Cross mantle as he replaces Morgan Freeman as the famed detective/psychologist from James Patterson's novels? Since Kiss the Girls and Along Came a Spider liberally altered the Patterson universe, I say a smarter decision would have found Freeman returning for a third and final appearance and Perry supporting him, Ghost Protocol style. Or just going with the initial idea of casting Idris Elba.

Alex Cross follows the young homicide detective/psychologist (Tyler Perry), from the worldwide best-selling novels by James Patterson, as he meets his match in a serial killer (Matthew Fox). The two face off in a high-stakes game of cat and mouse, but when the mission gets personal, Cross is pushed to the edge of his moral and psychological limits in this taut and exciting action thriller.

The story and its players look different in the latest screen iteration of “Dangerous Liaisons,” but the venomous passions remain repellently, seductively familiar. Bankrolled by Chinese money and directed by a South Korean filmmaker, Jin-ho Hur, this Chinese-language version of the 18th-century French novel by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos opens in Shanghai in 1931, when the city was known as the Paris of the Orient. (Now it’s just the center of the world.) That year a fighting-trim Mao Zedong helped create the Chinese Soviet Republic, and Japan invaded the Chinese province of Manchuria, setting up a puppet government. The second Sino-Japanese war was six years away.

Geopolitical tensions simmer at the outermost edges of “Dangerous Liaisons,” which mostly unfolds as a divertingly lush tear-stained melodrama. Written by Yan Geling, it follows the overall streamlined contours and devious intrigues familiar from Stephen Frears’s 1988 film of the Christopher Hampton stage adaptation. Once again a suave rake, Xie Yifan (Jang Dong-gun, wearing a Clark Gable smirk and ’stache), spends his nights busily bedding the local talent and his days sharing gossip with a female counterpart, Mo Jieyu (Cecilia Cheung). They are effectively the Shanghai match of Laclos’s Vicomte de Valmont and Marquise de Merteuil, the twinned vipers who, while nestled in the bosom of the city’s high society, conspire to seduce, conquer and destroy their prey.
